Oulu, Finland – A Sculptural Return to the North

I’m currently in Oulu, in northern Finland, working on large-scale wooden sculptures as part of the preparations for European Capital of Culture 2026.

The scale is ambitious, the conditions are raw, and the wood – as always – demands respect. There’s something unique about working in this environment: the silence, the rhythm of nature, and the focus it allows to go deeper into the creative process. I’m grateful to be here and to take part in a cultural project that goes beyond sculpture – something rooted in the land, in people, and in shared experience.
